Al JFC Naples si celebrano i 70 anni dalla nascita della NATO. Unità tra vecchi e nuovi traguardi

Uno sguardo di insieme a tutto ciò che la NATO ha rappresentato e continua a rappresentare nel Mondo: dalla campagna per fermare la carneficina nel Kosovo (1999) agli interventi per combattere la piaga del terrorismo mondiale, toccando i punti più cruciali dei mandati in Libia e delle innumerevoli missioni tra la Bosnia e L’Iraq.
Questo, e molto, molto altro, funge da testamento ai valori che, dall’ormai lontano 4 aprile 1949, rappresentano il North Atlantic Treaty e che oggi, alla soglia dei Settanta anni dalla nascita, conta ben 29 Alleati.

Libertà pubblica e individuale, patrimonio comune, civiltà, democrazia e importanza del diritto e della  legislazione.
Questi i principi su cui gli iniziali 12 alleati hanno fondato il patto, con l’obiettivo di dare una solida base alla stabilità ed al benessere delle loro popolazioni.

Oggi, come ricordato dal Comandante, Ammiraglio James G. Foggo III, a seguito delle ultime annessioni di Paesi come L’Albania e la Croazia (10 anni fa), fino alle recentissime Montenegro  e Macedonia, la NATO continua ad essere un punto di importanza Mondiale, sempre più compatto, unito e flessibile.

Ed è in questo giorno così importante, nell’anniversario delle sette decadi dalla nascita del Trattato, che all’interno della Base NATO di Lago Patria (JFCNP) con un emozionante discorso dell’Ammiraglio J. Foggo, sostenuto dal CSM Hans Jürgen Stark (Command’s Senior Enlisted Leader) e dinnanzi ad una folla gremita di spettatori, sia militari che civili, è rintonato il suono della Campana di bronzo, resa possibile grazie al grande lavoro a cura dell’Architetto Antonia Strazzullo, di Christopher Monaro e Demet Kiziltas, nonché realizzata dalla Pontificia fonderia di campane Marinelli di Agnone (Isernia).
La campana, vero e proprio simbolo commemorativo per le Forze armate era infatti oggi presente, con la sua imponenza, a far da sfondo alla celebrazione. Al suo fianco, Carolina Smith (Petty Officer Second Class), il membro più giovane della Marina Americana, designata, come da tradizione, per il rintocco della stessa.

“Sono fiero di lavorare con voi, ogni giorno”, ha concluso l’Ammiraglio J. Foggo, in segno di ringraziamento.
Menzione è stata fatta anche ai nomi di coloro che da più lungo tempo (1984) servono la NATO – Diana Sodano (PAO), Rosario Romeo (NCIA), Gabriella Ciannella (J8) e Antonietta Ciccone (OCOM).

“E’ il ‘Team dei Teams’.
Abbiamo uomini, donne, civili, militari. Abbiamo Alleati e partners ma, soprattutto abbiamo una famiglia.
..Da 70 anni, noi siamo famiglia”.

An overview of all that NATO has represented and continues to represent in the World: from the campaign to stop the carnage in Kosovo (1999) to the interventions to combat the scourge of world terrorism, touching the most crucial points of the mandates in Libya and the countless missions between Bosnia and Iraq.
This, and much, much more, serves as a testament to the values ​​that, from April 4, 1949, represent the North Atlantic Treaty and which today, celebrating the anniversary of Seventy years from birth, counts 29 Allies.

Public and individual freedom, common heritage, civilization, democracy and the importance of law and legislation.  These are the principles on which the initial 12 allies founded the Treaty, with the aim of giving a solid foundation to the stability and well-being of their populations.

Today, as said by the Commander, Admiral James G. Foggo III, following the latest annexations of countries like Albania and Croatia (10 years ago), up to the very recent Montenegro and Macedonia, NATO continues to be a point of importance Worldwide, increasingly compact, united and flexible.

And it is on this day, on the Seven-year anniversary of the treaty, that at the NATO Base of Lago Patria (JFCNP), with an exciting speech by Admiral J. Foggo, supported by CSM Hans Jürgen Stark ( Command’s Senior Enlisted Leader) and in front of a crowd full of spectators, both military and civilian, the sound of the Bronze Bell was devised, made possible thanks to a great work by the Architect Antonia Strazzullo, Christopher Monaro and Demet Kiziltas and realized by the Marinelli Pontifical bell foundry of Agnone (Isernia).  The Bell, an important symbol for every Armed Forces, was in fact present today, with its grandeur, as a backdrop for the celebration. At her side, Carolina Smith (Petty Officer Second Class), the youngest member of the U.S. Navy, designated, as an old tradition, for the stroke of the bell.

“I am proud to work with you every day,” concluded Admiral J. Foggo, in thanks.
Mention was also made of the names of those who have been serving NATO for the longest time (1984): Diana Sodano (PAO), Rosario Romeo (NCIA), Gabriella Ciannella (J8) and Antonietta Ciccone (OCOM).
